Steady, as we grow.
As a Councillor, I listen and learn so that I can influence, advocate, and make sound policy decisions that are beneficial for the entire community. This is accomplished through building trusting relationships, having open and honest dialogue, and collaborating with other individuals, municipalities, organizations, businesses, and orders of government.
I will continue working on this important issue when I am re-elected in October. When we begin our new term, the Mayor and all Councillors will have a chance to highlight what they heard on the campaign trail and to explain their priorities. We will collectively set our agenda for the next few years. I will put forward innovative ideas, support existing economic development initiatives, and continue to advocate for Beaumont to increase its revenue by welcoming and growing new and existing businesses. This priority will address the need for local employment, secondary education, and supporting services such as transportation and skill development.
Beaumont has a diverse and vibrant population. I will support increasing our accessibility to local facilities, services, and programs for all ages. There are a growing number of charities and helping organizations who need staff and volunteers. I know from my own experience that organizations need help raising revenue, promoting their services, and developing competent Board members and volunteers. I believe we have both an opportunity and a responsibility to reach out to new and existing residents to encourage their participation in community life. I will continue to propose and support community building initiatives.
I will continue to be an active member of Council, participating at meetings, asking tough questions, responding to residents, collaborating with other municipalities, school boards, businesses, government bodies, and organizations, reading and learning about emerging issues, making policy and reasonable budget decisions and in general, looking out for the welfare of the residents of Beaumont.
